Instructional Design

We are instructors, lifelong learners, and professionals who specialize in quality course design. We stay on top of current and emerging trends in the field of instructional design to ensure that courses that we support follow best practices. The Instructional Design Team primarily provides support for online graduate programs in the School of Library and Information Science, the Department of Nutrition, the Department of Health Professions Education, and the Department of Behavior Analysis.

One-on-One Consultations

We work one-on-one with instructors to ensure that their courses are the best that they can be. We strive to make instructors’ lives easier while meeting students where they are. We make rigorous online classes engaging and enjoyable by using both new technologies and tried and tested techniques.

Common consultation topics include:

  • Examining your current course and content organization
  • Creating an online course “blueprint”
  • Moodle course site design and development
  • Brainstorming activity ideas
  • Developing a plan for an instructional design project request

Resources include the most current information on accessibility, best practices for teaching online, and tutorials for the tools and technologies you can use in your courses.
