Career Development

The CFE supports career development and faculty mentoring across all position types and career stages in order to empower faculty excellence and help Simmons faculty grow and thrive in their professional lives.

Key Programs

New Faculty Orientation

The Center for Faculty Excellence offers New Faculty Orientation for new full-time faculty members prior to the start of the fall semester. New Faculty Orientation orients full-time faculty members to the Simmons community through events such as a campus tour, presentations from Simmons leadership and offices across campus, reflections on inspirational teaching, a Q&A session with a faculty panel, and a meet-and-greet community reception.

Furthermore, CFE also offers a variety of asynchronous resources to orient you to Simmons. Please view the Orientation to Simmons for New Faculty page for more details.

New Faculty Mentoring Group

The New Faculty Mentoring Group led by CFE Faculty Fellow Matthew Schwartz meets regularly to discuss challenges, share ideas, ask questions, and build community within the cohort of new full-time faculty.

Please note that additional mentoring and career stage development programming for faculty is currently under development.
