Summer Housing
Summer is almost here and Simmons can provide housing options for you!
Official Summer Housing is May 12th at 12 pm to August 24th at 12 pm, but specific contract dates may not span the entirety of those dates. Students who are contracted for Fall 2024 can stay from August 24th to our official move-in days, but it will come at an additional cost. Those not contracted with us for Fall 2024 housing will need to move out on August 24th by 12 pm.
The Summer Housing Application will open on February 20, 2024 and will close on March 27, 2024 at 12 pm. Please read each question carefully, as it could impact your contract dates and overall bill. You are able to review the Summer Housing Contract on your Housing Portal and the link can be found in the Housing Application.
Summer Housing Eligibility
Residents must be Simmons students continuing in the Fall 2024 semester, have graduated in the Spring 2024 semester, or are sponsored by a Simmons program or faculty member. All summer residents must fall into one of the following categories throughout their stay in summer housing (1) participant in a Simmons or COF academic course (2) participant in a Simmons sponsored program, i.e., SURPASS, DREAM, etc. (3) work in a Simmons University office. Each student who requests housing must have their approved reason for requesting (and the category under which qualify) confirmed by the Registrar’s Office, supervisor or program lead. Students can move-in on or after the date designated by the Office of Residence Life and must move out of their assignment on the last day of their contract period. Resident students are required to meet all scheduled deadlines for application and payment. Students enrolled in summer courses, including registered internships, or on-campus jobs as well as those students who are part of a special University-sponsored program approved by the Office of Residence Life, will be given priority for University Housing.
Summer Housing Building
Which building we utilize for Summer Housing is determined by the Office of Conference Services, as they “own” the residential buildings in the summer. Summer Housing will be in North Hall. We will be able to use some of Dix Hall for those folks with specific accommodations, but that is on a first-come, first-served basis based on the eligibility date of the accommodation.
Registering with OAS
The Office of Residence Life will honor 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 Housing Accommodations if they are already on file with the Office of Accessibility Services. If you are seeking accommodations ONLY for the summer term, please click the link above to start the process with OAS. We ask that you submit all of your materials for your Accommodation Request by April 22, 2024. Again, if you already have a Housing Accommodation on file for the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 academic year, there is no need to submit for summer.
Roommate Requests
The roommate request form will be sent out on March 28, 2024, and will close on April 8, 2024. Please note that most of the housing options in North Hall are single rooms. Housing Assignments for summer will be sent to students on May 3, 2024.
Meal Plans
There are no meal plans offered for Summer Housing, but your Simmons-sponsored program may provide catering options or a meal plan stipend.
Housing Deposits
No Housing Deposit is required.
Student Billing
Summer Housing bills are determined by the dates selected in the summer housing application but follow a $35 daily rate structure. Rates are included in the various contract date scenarios. Student Financial Services will release Housing Bills to students on April 1, 2024 with a due date of May 5, 2024. If the housing charge is applied on or after the due date, it is due within 2 weeks.

Summer Housing for Student Employees
Student Employees who support a revenue-generating unit or who work for a major university operation can get their summer housing compensated. Students who are eligible to receive this benefit will be required to work a minimum of 20 hours a week. Students can combine employment to meet this criteria. For example, a student can work for the sports center and be an admissions ambassador simultaneously. Student employees will not have an option to choose their housing, but will be housed based on housing that is available. If a student drops below the required hours or is removed from campus employment, it will result in the student being billed for housing or the student must submit a Housing Cancellation Request.
