Virtual Orientation for All Incoming SLIS Students
Welcome to Simmons University and the School of Library and Information Science. To aid in your transition to graduate studies and to orient you to Simmons and SLIS, we have created a virtual orientation that we ask you all to complete. This orientation is organized as a no-cost, no-credit course known as LIS 400-OL that will be accessible at the beginning of December.
This online orientation course will introduce all Library and Information Science (LIS) students to the full range of academic, administrative, and social expectations for students; college, school, and program resources and policies; and the environments in which these expectations will be met.
Please plan to access the virtual orientation online course before the first day of the semester so that you may be completely prepared to begin studying at SLIS. Additionally, please plan to set aside approximately 3 – 5 hours for participation in and reflection on this important course and its contents. Once you have completed the course, it will remain accessible to you throughout your program and you will be free to refer back to its content.
To access the virtual orientation:
- Go to https://moodle.simmons.edu
- Log in with your Simmons username and password
- Select the “Spring 2021 Virtual Orientation (LIS-400-OL)” link listed under the “My Courses” heading
