A big welcome to the first CompleteDegree@Simmons cohort who started classes today, Monday May 24. CompleteDegree@Simmons is a 100 percent online program for adult learners. The inaugural cohort of 29 students come from nine states, range in age from 22-69 years old, and include 12 first generation students. These students have many inspiring stories that include:
- A tribal chief, fulfilling a promise to her mother to obtain her bachelor’s degree, who plans to use her degree to give back to her tribal community.
- Young mothers who put their education on hold to raise children, and who want a university that values their experience and empowers female students.
- A former traditional Simmons College undergrad who is excited to return to Simmons University and finish what she started.
- An adult transfer student looking for an online degree completion program with more support and engagement.
- A Social Work student who was drawn to Simmon’s reputation in the field and its gender inclusive culture.
