SLIS West supports the Master of Science in Library and Information Science, as well as concentrations in Libraries & Librarianship, Archives Management and School Library Teacher. All courses required of all students and a diversity of elective courses are offered on site at SLIS West; however, specialized elective courses may only be available to SLIS West students online or at the Boston Campus. Visit the current schedule in Workday for information on SLIS West, Boston, and virtual courses.
SLIS West students looking for a subject tutor for a specific course or with specific questions about SLIS West courses should contact the SLIS West Program Director.
SLIS West Campus
Intimate classroom settings and lasting relationships between students, faculty, and staff is what SLIS West is known for. While the program is not situated within a metropolitan area like Boston, students will find plenty to do in the surrounding Pioneer Valley and a strong community to support them during their stay. Many times throughout the year the SLIS West student group, LISSA West, hosts social events both on and off campus throughout the Pioneer Valley.
Library and Technology
SLIS West students have borrowing privileges at Greenfield Community College and full access to the Simmons University Library collection. Just log into your Simmons library account and place an item on hold, choose SLIS West as your pick up location, and your items will be shipped via mail to your front door. All Simmons books can be returned to the GCC Library.
SLIS West students have access to the GCC Library during their regular hours. The computers run all of the technology, software applications, server-based services, and equipment required for your course work. In addition to computer access, students can scan, copy, and print materials in the GCC Library.
Campus Life

The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) runs public buses all over the region. Check the schedule and fare information carefully; bus service stops at night and does not run during holidays and school breaks. The FRTA site also includes a trip planner.
No permits are required for student parking. Students may park in Lots A through D from 7am to 11pm any day.
