MBTA Survey – Ruggles Station Platform

Next Spring (2020), the MBTA will open an additional commuter rail platform at Ruggles Station which will allow many more inbound trains to stop.

Board of Trustees Chair to Serve Additional Year

At the Simmons October Board meeting, Trustees voted unanimously to have Regina Pisa serve an additional year as Chair of the Simmons Board of Trustees. Although her term was supposed to conclude May 2020, it will now end a year later in 2021.

The Division of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (MCS) Unit in The College of Organizational, Computational, and Information Science (COCIS) is now Division of Mathematics, Computation, and Statistics.

Benefits Announcement: Floating Holiday – November 11

Veteran’s Day is listed as a floating holiday on the FY20 Holiday and Winter Break Schedule. The university will be open on November 11 and all employees will be expected to work their usual schedule.

Ifill Forum Recap

Approximately 300 alumnae, community members, students, faculty, staff, and friends of Gwen Ifill attended the Forum to experience what Dean Brian Norman described as an event that invited “important national voices for a conversation of a pressing issue.”

Professor Paul Abraham Leads ESL Symposium

The symposium, Is it SPED and /or ESL? Using Writing to Identify Needs, addressed the complexities of identifying special needs among English learners and attracted over 80 teachers and administrators, both SPED and ESL, from school districts throughout Arkansas.
