Featured Event: Muddy River Clean Up

Join us to clean up the parks and shorelines adjacent to the Muddy River near Simmons campus. Our partners, the Muddy Water Initiative, will lead volunteers along the river to collect any and all trash, all of which has a high likelihood of ending up in the river.

The clean up is scheduled for Friday, October 13 from 3 - 4:30 pm. We will be meeting at the Muddy River across from Simmons University (300 Fenway). Please wear closed-toed shoes with good grip, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and bring plenty of water. Participants should pre-register.

Newman Civic Fellowship

Are you interested in addressing an issue in the community? Are you a civically-minded student? Consider applying for the Newman Civic Fellowship!

The Newman Civic Fellow will work on a proposal of civic engagement within the Simmons or Boston community, write a short proposal (with staff or faculty advising), and attend professional development events with other National Newman Civic fellows.

We are looking for students who are interested in engaging in collaborative action, taking action in addressing issues of inequality and political polarization, and will demonstrate the motivation and potential for effective long-term civic engagement. If this is you, submit an application to be considered!

SURPASs

Applications for the 2024 Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Simmons (SURPASs) open November 15! RSVP to attend our first info session on Wednesday, November 8 from 5 - 6 pm in A-070 / Zoom.

SURPASs a paid, mentored summer research and creative scholarship experience for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The SURPASs intensive takes place for six weeks from the end of May to June. Students receive a $3,000 stipend, a budget of up to $1,000, supplies, and room and board on campus. In addition, faculty mentors receive a stipend of $2,000. Study Abroad & Global Intern Scholarship

The McGrath Study Abroad and Global Intern Scholarship provides funding to undergraduate students to study abroad or participate in a global internship with SIT during the Summer of 2024! Scholarships cover program tuition fees, room and board, airfare, visa and immunization fees.

Applications will be accepted until December 4, 2023 at 8:00 am, no exceptions. This scholarship is open to full-time, on-the-ground undergraduate students in good academic standing. Please note that graduating seniors are not eligible to apply.

***Due to the limited number of scholarships available, thoughtful, well-written applications from students with high financial need will be prioritized.***
