Academic Support & Fall Study Groups

Academic Support at Simmons offers free, appointment-based peer tutoring for undergraduate and graduate students, curated study groups, and skill-building workshops. We train tutors, TAs, and Learning Assistants, and we connect students and faculty with the academic resources available to ensure the success and growth of all students in our community.

πŸ“š Academic Support & Accessibility Updates

Are you someone who works best in the company of other people? Consider joining a study group! We will connect students into groups of approximately 5 students each, and we will send out emails to the groups to get the ball rolling.

Sign up for a study group starting August 18th:

🍁 This fall, Academic Support and the Library will host AI & Information Literacy workshops for students, faculty, and staff - keep an eye out for the schedule the week of August 25!

Need to find a tutor? Get started by creating your profile on WCOnline. Student Research Awards & National Fellowships

The Office of Research and Fellowships is excited to offer four independent research and internship-based awards this year:

πŸ† The Undergraduate Research Award

The Undergraduate Student Research Fund provides up to $1,000 to undergraduate students conducting independent research/study projects or an artistic endeavor that advances their disciplinary field and/or professional goals. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until February 2, 2026. May support semester or year-long projects. Please note that a letter of support is required.

πŸ† The Undergraduate Conference Award

The Undergraduate Student Conference Fund provides up to $500 for undergraduate students to present at or attend academic, research, and professional conferences. Priority will be granted to students who are presenting at a conference. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for as long as funds are available.

πŸ† The Passionate Leaders Project Award

The Passionate Leaders Project (PLP) is a competitive $3,000 award given to up to six undergraduate students to pursue an independent research project, creative endeavor, community enterprise, or internship project of their own design and development. Applications for the 2025-2026 PLP cycle will be accepted until October 20, 2025. Please note that a letter of support is required.

πŸ† The Faculty-Student Collaborative Fellowship Award

The Faculty-Student Collaborative Fellowship at Simmons is a competitive small-grant program that enables faculty to hire an undergraduate or graduate research fellow for the duration of a semester or an academic year. Applications will be accepted from full-time Simmons faculty members until September 30, 2025. Please note that this award requires a faculty member to submit the application and should primarily be in support of faculty-led research (rather than a student-led project).

🌍 Did you know that we provide guidance to undergraduates and graduate students applying for nationally distinguished fellowshipsβ€”including the Boren, Critical Language Scholarship, Gilman, Fulbright, Goldwater, and Truman Scholarships?

πŸ‘‰ Check out our database of national and global fellowships and scholarships! Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you're interested in exploring any fellowships, including opportunities that may not be listed.

P.S. If you're interested in a fellowship but the Simmons deadline has passed, email us anyway. We may yet be able to assist!

REEF Support Corner

Check out the REEF Community Borrowing Programs, available to students at no additional cost! Community Borrowing Programs are possible by the generous donations of faculty and staff and support students who may experience financial barriers to accessing necessary academic materials.

Open September 2, 2025:

  • Lab Supplies Borrowing Program (goggles, coats, and molecular kits)
  • Text Book Sharing Program (sell and shop both free and discounted textbooks from fellow students)
