Race, Gender, and Democracy with Simmons Alum Maya Valentine

Join us for a discussion with Simmons alum Maya Valentine about Race, Gender, and Democracy on Capitol Hill on Thursday, November 21 at 3:00 PM in room C-520! Maya currently serves as the Communications Director for Senator-Elect Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE). From her boss, and soon-to-be Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester to Kamala Harris and other historic candidates like Sara McBride, she will unpack how Congress is getting more diverse and how that positions more voices to influence public policy. By examining how identity influences political decisions and representation, this discussion will inspire underrepresented groups to engage in politics and advocate for their communities on Capitol Hill.

Maya graduated from Simmons University in 2019 with a major in Journalism,

Public Relations and Marketing Communications.

Light refreshments will be provided. This program is part of Ifill School’s signature event series, Mentor in Residence. Register here. If you have any questions, email [email protected].
