Featured Event: Major Exploration Fair

The Undergraduate Advising Office is joined by multiple departments and campus partners for the annual Major Exploration Fair!

 

The Major Exploration Fair is an opportunity to meet department chairs and faculty and learn about the variety of majors, minors, and disciplinary pathways at Simmons. There will be an ice cream sundae bar, popcorn, and a chance to win fun prizes! 🍨🍿🏆

 

This event will be taking place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 2:30 PM in 

the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Main College Building.

Apply for the Passionate Leaders Project grant by November 1!

Applications for the Passionate Leaders Project (PLP) are being accepted until November 1!

 

The PLP is a $3,000 award to pursue an independent research project, creative endeavor, community enterprise, or internship project. The 2024-2025 PLP will be awarded to five undergraduate students from different disciplines. A strong proposal is likely to build upon the foundation of a previously-established relationship with a mentor or organization, previous engagement with the topic in question, and/or a demonstrated familiarity with the issue(s), research, or methodology in the field.

SURPASs Info Session on October 30

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is hosting the first SURPASs Info Session of the academic year on Wednesday, October 30 from 4:00 to 5:00 PM (add to Google cal)! Students and faculty across all disciplines are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be provided!  

 

SURPASs is a paid, mentored summer research and creative scholarship experience for undergraduate students across disciplines taking place between May 19 - June 27, 2025. As part of the application process, prospective scholars will work with a faculty or staff mentor to design and propose a project for the intensive. During the intensive, scholars will work with their mentors to conduct their projects, attend bi-weekly cohort meetings, and present their final projects to the community on June 27.

Continuity within Chaos Lecture by Dr. James O'Connell

We are excited to announce that Dr. James, O'Connell, president of Boston Healthcare for the Homeless will be giving a lecture to our community on October 30th, from 11am-12pm. Dr. O'Connell will discuss his involvement with the program and how best we can support unhoused populations. The event will be hybrid and open to all members of the Simmons community.

Upcoming Fall Listening and Learning Session

Reporting at Simmons: Ethics Point and Bias Reporting — Presented by Dr. Rachel Deleveaux and Sara Simberg, Esq.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to join the University’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and General Counsel’s Office to learn about how to utilize these two University reporting processes, what happens when a report is received, and how these processes help support of the Simmons community. This webinar will be led by Sara Simberg, Esq and Dr. Rachel Deleveaux. Sara Simberg, serves as Assistant General Counsel and Title IX Coordinator at Simmons University. Dr. Rachel Deleveaux serves as the Assistant Vice President for Diversity Strategy and Engagement and oversees the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Simmons University.

Need your voting FAQs answered or want help registering to vote? Stop by our drop-in hours every Thursday from 12pm-2pm and Friday from 11am-1pm in the Center for Student Success until the election.

 

SGA Frights and Rights 

What's the scariest thing we can think of this October? Not having your voice heard! Stop by SGA's table outside of Common Grounds on Wednesday, October 23, from 2-3:30 to get registered, learn about your rights, and have some fun trick or treating!

 

Winter Gear for Community Clothing Rack

It’s that time of year again in the REEF Support Center. "The Rack- Winter Edition" is an ongoing resource of gently used winter clothing donated from our community for our students. We are looking for jackets, hats, gloves, scarves and boots!

 

If you are interested in donating lighting worn winter clothing, please email [email protected] to coordinate a drop off. You can also support our winter gear drive through our amazon wish list linked here. Any student can stop by the REEF Support Center and grab a jacket, hat, or scarf from the Rack. Items available will differ at any given time. If you are looking for a specific item or size, you can email [email protected] and we will do our best to accommodate you!
