CRGCS Undergraduate Research Symposium

2024 Senior Scholar Award Showcase

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 Senior Scholar Award! 🎉 The Senior Scholar Award is presented by the Provost's Office and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships to six graduating seniors in recognition of outstanding scholarship and contribution to a field of study.

 

The six recipients of the 2024 Senior Scholar Awards are:

 

  • Nardos Alemu '24 (Computer Science, Mathematics), Automatic Speech Recognition System for Low Resource Languages
  • Leila Aydibi '24 (Biology, Pre-PA Track), Muslims' Experiences with the Healthcare System in Massachusetts
  • Debora Edouard '24 (Neurobiology), Evaluating the effect of RNAi silencing on the KRAS translocation in pancreatic Cancer Cells
  • Sarina Lau '24 (Biochemistry), Investigating the role of Aurora A kinase on localization and expression of postsynaptic protein dTACC at the neuromuscular junction in Drosophila melanogaster
  • Estela Raya-Fouts '24 (Political Science, Spanish), The Consequences of Coloniality: Searching for a Queer Decolonial Feminism in Latin America
  • Reham Zeroual '24 (Africana Studies, Political Science), Memory: The Making of Algeria's Post-Colonial Identity

Fulbright Info Session

Are you interested in receiving a fellowship to attend graduate school abroad, teach English in another country, or pursue an independent creative/research project overseas? 

 

Fulbright is an international grant program that aims to foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and nations across the globe. They provide grants for individually designed study/research projects and for English Teaching Assistant programs.

Muddy River Symposium

Join the Colleges of the Fenway (COF) for the 18th Annual Muddy River Symposium. The Keynote this year consists of a panel of community activists and participants from the Fenway Victory Gardens. The panel discussion will explore the history of the Gardens, their role in crafting and maintaining a sustainable ecosystem, and how individual gardeners view their roles as stewards of the Fenway community.

Brave Talk Workshop

As part of our participation in the JED Campus Program, the JED Campus Task Force is offering an expert-developed training called Brave Talk.

Brave Talk is an interactive, discussion-based workshop designed to give students the skills to support their peers who may be struggling with their mental health and help connect them to care.

Research Study Participants Needed!

You are invited to take part in a research study conducted by second year DPT students. The purpose of the study is to identify the most commonly used strategies for entering flow state while participating in academics and/or sports. If you choose to participate, you will anonymously complete a brief, 10-minute survey (up to 35 questions) about your experiences as a student and/or athlete. You must be 18 or older. Your participation is voluntary and will not in any way affect your standing with Simmons University and/or the Athletics department.

2024 Gwen Ifill Forum

This is the annual signature event in honor of Gwen Ifill '77, '93HD and her legacy! This year will feature a moderated discussion with accomplished MSNBC political analyst and host of “The ReidOut,” Joy-Ann (Joy) Reid. She will also be honored with the Gwen Ifill Next Generation Award. The moderator for the forum is Latoyia Edwards, an Emmy Award-winning anchor on NBC 10 Boston and NECN.
