Valentine's Day Longwood Winter Stroll

Longwood is hosting a free outdoor ice sculpture stroll on February 14th from 11am to dusk (alt. weather date: 2/15). Sculptures will be placed across 15 locations in the district, transforming it into a winter wonderland. Come out, see live demonstrations, explore the district, and make the most of the cold!

Reminder: Major Exploration & Study Abroad Fair on Feb 14!

The Office of Undergraduate Advising is hosting a Major Exploration & Study Abroad Fair where you can learn about all the programs that they have to offer!

 

The fair will take place Wednesday, February 14th at 2 - 4:30 pm in the LKP on the 3rd Floor of the Main College Building.

Scholarship Opportunity for Adult Learners

Attention Dix Scholars! Alpha Sigma Lambda is an honor society that partners with colleges and Universities to celebrate the scholarship and leadership of adult students in higher education.  As Simmons has a chapter, Chi Pi, you may be eligible to apply for their 2024-2025 scholarship opportunities. 

 

Scholarship Application Process: 

  1. Students submit their completed application materials to [email protected] by March 31st. Please add in the email subject line: “ASL Scholarship Application”. The 2024-2025 Scholarship Student Materials and Info Packet may be found online and is available for download in an editable pdf form. (Please only include one faculty recommendation form with your application).  
  2. Undergraduate Advising will review all submissions the week of April 1st.
  3. Students are notified if they have been selected to move on to the next round of the process. (Week of April 8th)
  4. All materials are submitted to the national Alpha Sigma Lambda headquarters for review of all final scholarship candidates (By April 12th).

Orientation Leader Applications

Interested in becoming an Orientation Leader for Fall 2024 but don't know where to start? The CLE will be hosting three information sessions in February and March. We'll give a brief presentation on the ins and outs of what it takes to be an OL and be able to answer any of your questions. Applications will open Feb. 20 and close March 17!

  • Friday Feb. 16 @ 1:30 - 2:30 pm in the CLE (SoM 131)
  • Wed. Feb. 28 @ 3:30 - 4:30 pm over Zoom
  • Thurs. March 14 @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm in the CLE (SoM 131)
 

Health Boundaries Workshop Series

Hosted by Casa Myrna, Betsy’s Friends, Title IX Team, and the REEF Support Center! Be a member of our Healthy Boundaries Cohort by attending each workshop! Build community with others who care about boundaries, consent, and safer relationships! Open to graduate and undergraduate students.

Reading Douglass Together

Join the London Center for Community Engagement and Social Justice for a community reading and discussion of Frederick Douglass' speech, "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July"? 

 

The event will consist of a collective reading of the speech in which attendees have the opportunity to read a portion, a brief response from Professor Abel Amado of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, and an audience discussion of the relevance of Douglass' words for today. This hybrid event is open to all members of the Simmons community, as well as Boston community members. Please register here for this hybrid event! All registrants will be emailed a Zoom link.

Happy Lights aid in Seasonal Affective Disorder. Students may sign out a light for 2 weeks at a time! After signing up and receiving an email notification, you may pick up the light in the REEF Support Center (A-075A)
