Featured Event: Black History Month Lecture

You are invited to the Department of Critical Race, Gender, and Cultural Studies for our Black History Month Lecture on Tuesday, February 27th at 6:00 pm in C-503 (5th floor of the Management Building). 

 

This year's event is titled "Black, Queer, & Trans: Advocating for the Most Marginalized Youth" and features a discussion with Shaplaie Brooks, Executive Director for the Massachusetts Commission for LGBTQ Youth. Light refreshments will be provided.

 

Book Talk with Sacha Lamb '20MS/MA 

Sacha Lamb is a 2018 Lambda Literary Fellow in Young Adult fiction, and a graduate of Simmons University’s Library & Information Science and History MS/MA program. Their debut novel, When the Angels Left the Old 

Country, explores queerness, Jewish identity, and immigration. 

 

Sacha is having a book talk titled "Using Research To Build a Queer Historical Fantasy". This talk will take place Thursday, February 29 from 3:30 - 5pm in the Trustman Art Gallery (4th floor of the MCB) and Remote.

Point Foundation 2024 Scholarships

The Point Foundation provides financial support, leadership training, mentoring, and community to LGBTQ college students from around the world. Point scholarships support community college, undergrad, graduate, and doctoral students with additions scholarship opportunities for BIPOC students.

Virtual Training: "Investing in Your Best Self"

The Eckert Center is pleased to offer a virtual training entitled "Investing in Your Best Self," hosted by Kerry Seitz, Senior Director of Simmons University’s Institute for Inclusive Leadership. The Simmons Conferences & Special Events Office is looking to hire Summer Conference Assistants and an Assistant Manager (Grad student) for Summer 2024. 

 

Looking for applicants with strong commitment to customer service and interest in events. We offer free on-campus housing from May to August to all staff. Full time positions are available!

Winter Supply Drive for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless

The London Center is partnering with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program for a Winter Supply Drive. The drive will run from February 1st to March 1st. New underwear and socks are highly requested! Bins will be located at the Center for Student Success, Main Campus Lobby, and Palace Road Lobby. You can also donate via our Amazon Wishlist. Participants Needed for Hydration Study 

You are invited to complete a pre-screening questionnaire to participate in an intervention-based research study. The purpose of this study is to analyze how an increase in water intake affects body composition, lipid profile, and blood pressure in young, healthy adults. 

 

You may be eligible to participate if:

💧You are a student enrolled at Simmons University

💧You are between the ages of eighteen and thirty years old.

💧You are free of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and others.

💧You are willing to consider participating in a three-week intervention study where you will be randomized to an exposure or control group

 

Students who meet eligibility criteria and are invited to participate in the study will be entered into a raffle for a gift card. 

The deadline to complete the eligibility screening survey is March 16th
