National Adult Learners' Week

In honor of National Adult Learners' Week, we want to celebrate all of our Dix Scholars and Complete Degree students!  On Tuesday, November 28 there will be grab-and-go treats in the REEF Center (Main College Building, across from the Fens Cafe) for all adult learners. We hope to see you there!

 

McGrath Study Abroad Scholarship - Apply by December 4!

The McGrath Study Abroad and Global Intern Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that provides funding to undergraduate students to study abroad or participate in a global internship through SIT during the Summer of 2024. Scholarships cover tuition fees, room and board, airfare, visa and immunization fees. This scholarship is open to full-time, on-the-ground undergraduate students in good academic standing. Please note that graduating seniors are not eligible to apply. 

 

Applications are being accepted until 8:00 AM on December 4, 2023 (no exceptions!). Applicants will be notified after winter break (first or second week of January). Please email [email protected] with any questions.

 

In addition, the Center for Global Education is hosting study abroad drop-ins on Monday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm in the Center for Student Success (Lefavour Building). The last day of study abroad drop-ins will take place on Monday, December 11.

 

Ifill Book Talk with Jo Knowles - December 6

Mentors in Residence: Book Talk With Jo Knowles

Join Ifill College for a discussion and book signing with Simmons alum Jo Knowles on Wednesday, December 6. This program is a part of Ifill College's signature event series, Mentors in Residence. 

 

Knowles’s work has received numerous awards including a New York Times Editor’s Choice and Notable, the Pen New England Children’s Book Discovery Award, and an American Library Association Notable, to name a few. Her novels include Lessons From A Dead Girl and Jumping Off Swings for young adults, as well as her middle-grade texts including See You at Harry’s and Still a Work in Progress. She is currently working on non-fiction essays for adults.
