Dear Students,
In the wake of yesterday’s devastating news about the passing of a Simmons student, we want to share some resources and support opportunities available to students. We know that this tragedy is impacting many in our community, and out of respect for the grieving family’s privacy, we will not be releasing the name of the student at this time.
Below please find some mental health and wellness supports available today and tomorrow. A message will be sent tomorrow with additional resources that will be available over the weekend.
Counseling Staff
Sherri Ettinger, Director of the Counseling Center, will be at the picnic table behind Simmons Hall today from 2 to 3:30 pm today for drop in conversations. She will also be available during the rest of the afternoon generally on the residential campus.
The Counseling Center, located on the third floor of One Palace Road, is open for drop in visits

- Friday from 10:30 am to 3 pm

Residence Life Staff
The Residence Life professional staff is available for drop in visits in the Residence Life Office:
- Thursday until 4:30 pm
- Friday 9 am - 4:30 pm
Professional staff can be contacted after business hours via Resident Advisors.
Community support spaces will be hosted in the Simmons Hall living room. Times and dates will be communicated by the Residence Life staff.
Spiritual Support Space
4 to 5 pm on Thursday in the Multicultural Center, first floor of the School of Management Building

ComPsych, our Student Assistance Program, is available to students, free of charge.
Wellness Ambassadors
Simmons Wellness Ambassadors, a group of students who are passionate about an inclusive and comprehensive approach to wellbeing for the Simmons community, will be offering drop-in office hours Thursday and Friday, with additional times over the weekend to come. These office hours are a place to go for peer support, while relaxing and practicing personal wellbeing. Office hours feature crafts, coloring activities, guided visualizations, breathing exercises, a warm cup of tea, and peer support from fellow Simmons students.

Physical Wellness Supports in the Holmes Sports Center
Thursday
4pm - Mobility & Stretching with Karina - This 30 minute class is great for anyone who wants to destress by performing some gentle stretches and mobility exercises to help decrease tension in our bodies to help improve not only our physical health but our mental health as well.
5:30pm - Yoga Flow with Perry - Yoga Flow focuses on linking breath with movement through a sequence of yoga postures. Flow and find calm during this well rounded mind-body class. All levels are welcome.
