Simmons Starts: Back to School Checklist

From the VP's Desk

Dr. Renique Kersh, VP for Student Affairs

Hey, Sharks!

Welcome to the final edition of The Anchor, Simmons Starts series! Today's communication provides information regarding transportation benefits available to Simmons students.

As a reminder, we will be hosting a webinar on Friday, August 13 at 12pm to highlight the information provided this week. If you have specific questions you'd like answered during that time, please submit them by August 10.

Commuting to Campus

We strive to make it easy to stay connected to everything going on at Simmons through student groups, electronic communication, and special facilities reserved for commuters to make your life a little easier. To find out more about commuter student resources click here.

The commuter lounge has moved to an expanded space featuring tap access (for Simmons community students only), a refrigerator, plenty of lounge and study furniture and a small conference room for group projects or meetings. The lounge is located in the Main College Building, Lower Level, adjacent to the Fens Cafeteria.

Student Transportation Benefits

CommuteWorks

CommuteWorks is a commuter benefits program available to students at MASCO member institutions. See programs and services below, plus a list of MBTA options in the area. Email [email protected] to sign up, or to ask general questions about getting around, personalized help planning your trip to campus, or an off-campus internship or job.

  • CommuteFit: This program offers monthly prizes if you walk, bike, or run to campus or an off-campus internship. Register online for this program with RideAmigos and log your miles for a chance to win our monthly raffle.

  • Ridesharing (Free Gas): The Carpool Incentive Program allows participants to receive up to $250 in free gas cards. Register with RideAmigos to find other people commuting from your home area.

  • Zipcar Discount (Save $60): Use the MASCO link for discount. Cars are available 24/7, 365 days a year — a great option for day trips outside of Boston or any off-campus errands. Use the Zipcar app to locate cars closest to you.

  • MASCO Shuttle (Fenway shuttle): Access Fenway in 5-10 comfortable minutes. Buses run every 8-10 minutes. MASCO shuttles are free to students - must show student ID to board. The M2 shuttle requires either Harvard ID or ticket ($4 for single ride). The Chestnut Hill shuttle requires a registered parking pass at the Shops at Chestnut Hill parking garage.
