Celebrating Public Safety Week with Virtual Reality: Oct 9-10

Coming Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10: Street Safety Virtual Reality!

Did you know there are more than 20 traffic-related deaths and 200 serious injuries each year – plus 400 bicycle crashes – on Boston streets each year? As part of Public Safety Week, Simmons is partnering with the City of Boston, Fundación MAPFRE (MAPFRE Foundation), and Boston Children’s Hospital to bring an interactive, virtual reality (VR) program that will engage students, faculty, and staff in a way that entertains and educates.

The VR experience is similar to a driving video game, taking participants through different levels of distractions over a three-minute course through city streets with a score at the end and guidance about how you can be safer.

Try VR for yourself from 3 – 8 pm on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 at Bartol Hall and at Common Grounds!
